You'll find that you may end up swapping between characters more frequently in higher difficulties, as the AI tends to play pretty poorly. But that doesn't mean you should have to contort yourself completely to swap between them. The second tip I have for ease of combat is to attempt to uniform similar fighters and group them together so that you can swap between them and not feel like you have to completely change your fighting style. Tip 2 - Change Artes for similarity and function. This ends up feeling much more standardized than the system Namco has and I find that I fumble with normal attacks much less frequently as everything has a upward motion from the X button. The biggest changes of course were Artes, with Arte 1 being changed to Y, Arte 2 being changed to RB, and Arte 3 being changed to RT. I changed normal attack from RB to X because again, feels very standard. I changed Evade/Guard from Right Trigger to B, because that's pretty standard on most games and it's what feels the most comfortable. I also changed this on the field as well, so universally. To explain in depth, I changed jump to A. Okay, maybe that doesn't explain things quite as well. I'll be using Xbox controller terminology from here forth because I'm playing on PC with a Xbox controller. Instead, I opted to map my controller as such. It doesn't work quite as well for Arise as it should. While I appreciate Namco trying to keep the Tales of Berseria A, X, Y / X, Square, Triangle mapping the same. This may seem like a personal preference, but it's worked for me and helped raise my skill expression with the game considerably. I wanted to post some tips for Combat in General. I've seen a-lot of posts regarding how "spongy" bosses are, and that people are having difficulties with the game and feeling although some combat is a slog.
